WAL about invitations and 6 Hat Thinking

We invited our buddies to COME and eat with us, just like Jesus invited people to COME AND FOLLOW.
We decided to sit under the big blue shade sail. We shared our eating time together.

After lunch, we used the yellow and red hats to think about this experience.
Zachary said "We invited our Room 5 buddies, and they said "Yes"!"
Gihara said "They came to the blue shade and ate lunch with us"
Ella said "We enjoyed sharing eating time with them".

Jacob said "We felt happy and excited when we knew they were coming!"
Ani said " Our buddies felt excited because we got to eat together"
Samuel said "I felt very happy when my buddy shared what he was doing and when he answered my questions".

What do you think is good about this posting?
What do you feel about this learning we have been doing in Room 8?

WAL soccer skills

Today the Amazing Eights went to the hall to practise soccer skills with Mr Shane Rufer.  He taught us how to dribble the ball with the inside and the outside of our feet.  He taught us how to bounce the ball on our thighs and then kick it and catch it. We had to kick the ball backwards and stop it with our feet.  We had to see how many times we could kick the soccer ball on our feet without stopping.  We are really looking forward to practising and then showing Mr Rufer how much better we are when he comes back.
We showed great Perseverance, especially when it was hard."Keep trying. You can do it!"  "Give it a go or you'll never know!"

WAL about Lent

We went on the bus to the cathedral on Wednesday.  It was Ash Wednesday.  We got a cross on our foreheads.  It was black and it was the ash.  We got the ash from burning the palms.  We did this in the hall on Monday.  Room 8 is learning about Lent. Lent means we are waiting for Easter.  We are going to try to make some changes during Lent so we can be more like Jesus.  We are going to try to be generous and give money to Caritas.  We are going to try really hard to follow our SUPER Gospel values.

Pesto making

This morning at Discovery Time, we made pesto with Mrs Edwards. We mixed walnuts, cheese, special oil, lots of basil leaves, garlic and salt in a blender. We discovered that:
"First it smelled a bit yuck, but then it got nicer." Stevie
"We tried the pesto on different crackers, and it tasted different on each cracker". Gihara
"The salt was letting the flavour come out so we can taste it". Kiwa
We are selling the pesto so we can buy more plants and equipment for our garden.
Next week we are making vegetable juice. If you would like some, send a gold coin on Monday!!

WAL to be Amazing swimmers.

On Thursday, we were very lucky to have Annette from the Lido come and teach us how to be better swimmers. She helped us with our gliding, kicking and breathing.

Thank you Annette. We will keep practising so we can be better "fish"!!

WAL about being the best learner we can be.

We have been learning about tools we can use to help us with our learning.
We have two tool boxes in our room. We are filling one tool box with Thinking Tools, and the other tool box with Cooperative Strategies. We will be able to decide which tools would be best to use to sort our thinking.
