Generosity

WOW!
Room 8 families were the most generous givers of Gala items and so we were able to celebrate at McDonalds.  See the photos on Facebook.

Room 8 was aslo the most generous class for Mission Box giving at the end of Term 3.

THANK YOU ROOM 8 FAMILIES FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!!  What wonderful role models you are, following Jesus' example of LOVE.  And following Catherine McAuley's Mercy example too.

WALT measure Mass

We discovered lots about Mass - weight.  We used lots of equipment to see what was the lightest and heaviest.  We used our hands, balances, and scales.
We were able to find out which toy was the lightest and heaviest by balancing them with cubes and counting the number of cubes.

We were able to order containers that looked the same but had 1 cup of different things in them by comparing them with our hands. We discovered that 1 cup of rice bubbles was the lightest and 1 cup of rice was the heaviest.

Some of us added water to a drink bottle until it weighed exactly 500 grams, and added play dough to the bowl until it weighed exactly 1 kilogram!

We balanced the scales with 2 different objects.

We measured the weight of the basket by adding 10 gram weights until the scales were balanced.  We discovered that the basket weighs 180 grams.

We also tried to balance ourselves on the balance board.  It was very hard!!

WALT take digital photos

We have been learning about digital photography and how to take great photos.  This was to get us ready for the Digi Awards.  We used our learning about lemons to create a storyboard and then take the photos to tell a photo story. We used picassa to arrange our photos and put them on a coloured background and add a title.
Here are our final photo stories.

Run Jump Throw

Last Thursday, Cameron taught us how to do the high jump.  We learned to do the scissor jump.  When we were on the right hand side we had to use our right leg to jump over the bar first.  When we were on the left hand side we had to use our left leg first over the bar.
We also learned how to push the shot put by having the shot in a "clean hand", on our "dirty neck", and one "chicken wing "arm and one Superman or Wonder Woman arm.

Run Jump Throw

On Tuesday, Cameron, who is an athletics expert, taught us how to run, leap and throw. We had to leap over the hurdles, one leg after the other.  We had to use one muscle arm and one Superman or Wonder Woman arm to throw a vortex.  This is helping us learn about throwing the shotput.  The discuss felt like a plastic plate.   We had to have our body sideways like a starfish.  we had to have a duck beak hand on the discus.

Watch out for Room 8 athletes at the 2018 Olympics!!

We have been practising our photography skills to prepare our entries for the Digi Awards. We created a story board, thinking about telling a story, the order of the photos, and the backgrounds.  Here is Ani, Sofia and Holly's storyboard and their photo story so far about making lemonade.
